AS Media Preliminary Task

Introduction
In this task we have been asked to create a magazine design for the college, i have decided to target the students as my audience.

Flat Plans

I Made the decision to have my masthead across the top of my page because it is where people first look and is level wih their eyeline. I chose one main image to cover the whole page with headlines down the side so they wasn't covering any of the image. I chose to use a sans-serif fonts on the whole front page, i did this because i think its more useful style and will appeal more to my target audience. I used 3 colours to design my masthead; Blue, Black and White. I decided to do this because i found that using minimal coulours gives it a sophisticated feel and doesn't look so clutterd. I put the important information in the top right corner where people will be able to see it without having to find it. My headlines are in bold, this is because it will draw people in and make them
want to read more.

In the contents page i used a list format explaining what is on the certain pages in the magazine and using images to refer to the story. I carried the same font format through onto the contents page from the frontpage so people can become familiar with the font and people will be able to associate the font with the magazine.

Pictures

I decided to used the picture on the right for my magazine, i did this because i felt overall was a better picture and could see face clearly and had a good background. The other picture you cant see the face and the pose isnt as welcoming i feel.

Final Design

Frontpage - This is my final design, i decided to keep it fairly simple but used a youthful masthead design. With the same colour scheme throughout. By using bold wording on the headlines it will draw people in to want to read more.

Contents - I carried the same colour scheme through and used images to link the page.
